How to Reduce the Clutter in your home!
Spring is finally trying to spring and sometimes it feels like it has sprung. And then it doesn’t. So have my spring-cleaning efforts. Like the weather, I start and stop…sometimes within the same hour.
It is just so overwhelming. Somewhere between motivation and inspiration to purge is the stress of having to deal with all the stuff. Then there is the issue of what to do with all the unwanted stuff.
That’s a lot of stuff.
I threw the question out to the universe and asked what to do. The universe offered many suggestions. When I say universe I’m referring to Facebook.
Suggestions came in from consignment shops to Craigslist and EBay. There are also many Facebook Yard Sales, which are online yard sales.
There is also The Freecycle Network, which has local groups with message boards. You post the item and select who gets it for free and they pick it up for free. That is a lot of freebies.
Donate! Many organizations will come and pick up your stuff in return for a tax-deductible receipt.
The Vietnam Veterans pick up site is http://www.scheduleapickup.com/. Pay attention to those postcards in your mailbox that let you know what organizations will be in your area to schedule a pick up.
Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore will pick up furniture (nothing upholstered) and building supplies. All proceeds go to building Habitat homes.
Of course you can have your own garage/yard sale. Or find a local group or business that plans on holding one. They are looking for items to raise money for fundraising.
Whatever the choice there is work involved and time dedicated to sort into piles: trash/donate/sell.
If you have any suggestions, please send them in. Happy Spring Cleaning!
